Splinter Fleet

The Splinter Fleet was built in Clarenville, Newfoundland between 1944 and 1947.  These ships were built for the Newfoundland government and were operated by the Newfoundland Railway.  The ships were named after different communities throughout the province, ten in all.

This section has an article and some photos which gives some history of these important vessels.  Although these ships played a vital role in their time, due to some uncontrollable circumstances much of the information on these ships has been lost.
