Monday 24th Sept 1827 – Wind from the S.W. very moderate all day with close sultry weather a few drops of rain were felt latter part of the afternoon.  Messrs. Garland’s brig Maria after having undergone a thorough repair was intended to have been launched Saturday last but after two attempts at morning and evening tides proved ineffectual at the morning side of this day it was effected in quick style and much to the alleviation of the anxiety of mind evidence by the builder Mr. Jos. Hart
