Monday 8th July 1850 – Cloudy, gloomy, & cool
atmosphere – wind south – at 10am wind S.W. Afternoon dry, & warm, wind
S.W. with appearance of continuance – Caplin is plenty in the bight this
day, cod fish scarce, supposed to be glutted – Brig Dorothy hauled in, &
shored up at Churchill’s land wash for the purpose of undergoing repairs
– Evening wind S.W. – Cloudy & dry.
