Memories of days gone by come quickly to mind with the sight of this two
masted schooner, moored to the wharf in the historic town of Trinity.
The 50 foot schooner was built as a pleasure boat by Henry Vokey of
Trinity and is the second done by the shipbuilder. His first, “a 45-
footer” was purchased by a Cleveland, Ohio resident. Mr. Vokey, who also
builds long liners and trap skiffs, said his schooner J and B, which he
built in 1986, is named for his four daughters: Jane, Josephine,
Bonnie and Bernice and is used mostly for pleasure. He made two trips to
St. John’s in the J and B last year and just recently returned from his
first to the city this year.
